August Animal Energy is the Lion

Lion is about Strength and Courage and saying what needs to be said.  One of the only cat animals to live in a family environment called a Pride.  The female is traditionally the hunter, while the male uses its roar to scare the prey towards the waiting lioness.  They hunt as a team, each using their unique gifts to their best advantage. They live and work as a team, showing us how each person has a gift to bring to the community.  Are we honoring each person’s gift?  Or are we complaining about how their gift is displayed?  Not everyone communicates the same way, they communicate the most effective way for them at the time based on how they were taught to communicate with others.  It is a learned skill and habit that is formed at a young age.  If they were yelled at a lot, they respond to others in like kind until they realize it is a habit that can be changed and they can learn to communicate differently and be just as affective.  Just as anger is a learned response, not often reflecting the person’s actual feelings but a way of communicating that was also a learned response.  A lion is not angry when he is roaring, he is using his gift in the process of working as a team with his mate to feed his family.  He also uses it to scare away predators, or those who threaten his family’s safety, and will fight to protect them if need be.  The male lion has the strength to do that, the female lion has the speed to catch prey.

This is important to look at in relationships.  Are we honoring the gifts that each person brings to our relationships?  Or, are we more about focusing on what the other person isn’t bringing to the relationship?  Or, are we only focusing on what we bring to the relationship and how important we are to it in a spirit of competitiveness instead of cooperation?  Relationships are our most important learning ground because they mirror to us who we are immediately, if we choose to look at it as a mirror and not an irritation.  Irritation and judgement are emotions and any emotions that come up for us are a response to something we have first within ourselves and then it is mirrored back to us by someone outside of ourselves.  So if you feel someone is displaying anger towards you, where do you hold anger within you?  Or any other emotion that wells up inside you based on an interaction with someone.  Judgement and blame are easy, looking within ourselves for the source often isn’t.  This is based on Sacred Law – As Within, So Without.  Everything outside us is a reflection of what is within us.

This month take the time to look at who you are blaming for your unhappiness – person, place, event or situation – they are all trying to teach you something.  Have the Courage and the Strength to open up to what the unhappiness is really about, within the only person that can answer that question…YOU!
Love and Blessings
